rule 110

1) organisation to discover the rules that govern life, the universe and everything by computer simulation.

2) cellular automaton (CA) that is able to perform universal computation.
the number 110 refers to the enumeration scheme introduced by Stephen Wolfram in 1986.

rule110 is an organisation for students who want to have fun and do research using computer simulations.

We organize international workshops as well as local reading clubs.

Many problems seem to be so complex and intricate that you might think you need at least a doctoral degree before you can tackle them.
In fact this complexity may arise from simple interactions which can easily be modelled inside a computer

rule110 wants to provide students with an understanding of systems dynamics and hands-on interdisciplinary research experience. It is a non-profit student initative that emerged in Osnabrück {Germany} in 2003.
